Instead of making resolutions, it’s time to start making New Year’s Intentions. I’m sure this isn’t the first time that you’ve heard this idea but consider the differences between a resolution and an intention. Resolutions = the act of solving…Read more…

Everyone has the right to cherish and explore their own beliefs. We are not against atheism, either. Many of us are atheists. We are for discovery, connection, and the exploration of the spirit.

Magical living is such a personal journey. There is dark magic, light magic, and everything in between. We will not judge you, or tell you how to walk your path. You can be a person of faith, or have none. You can believe in divine beings or prefer to work with archetypes. If it works for you, it works. Magical living is a means to explore everything that is visible and invisible. It is a means of exploration and self-empowerment. The path of a witch just beginning their journey is as valid as that of someone who has been practicing witchcraft and magic for years. We are here for you as you walk your own path.

Maybe you’re here because you’re wondering “am I a witch?” If these thoughts are going through your head, there’s a good chance you are already one. The first step is to proclaim it. But keep this in mind – being a witch is a lifelong journey of learning and self-growth. It’s not a quick fix to life’s problems. It’s not easy and it IS work. But if you’re a witch, you’re a witch. And the work involved in learning witchcraft will be fun and fulfilling.
Feel Most Comfortable Outside
Almost every witch will tell you they feel an undeniable urge to be in nature. They feel most comfortable when they’re outside. Whether at the beach, in a forest, or in their own garden, witches are drawn to nature like nature is drawn to them. Maybe as a child, your favorite place was the woods. Or a hidden creek. Maybe the local cemetery with its old, twisted trees and quiet breeze drew you to be outside. This is probably the strongest sign you’re a witch.
Animals Are Drawn To You
Speaking of nature, are you a natural animal person? Do dogs and cats and other domestic pets seem to love you more than others? Maybe you’ve even felt you could communicate with animals or feel their pain. This is another BIG sign you’re a witch.
People Are Drawn To You
On another end of the spectrum, if you’re wondering “am I a witch?” ask yourself instead “are people drawn to me?” Do you have random strangers tell you their personal problems? Are lost children wanting to come to you for help in finding their parents? It’s typical that a witch attracts people who need healing and need help in other ways. Why? Because witches feel deeply for those in need. We feel deep compassion and that compassion radiates vibes to others. Sometimes we might even be attracting toxic people with whom we must eventually cut the cords.
You’re Attracted to the Paranormal
Another big sign of being a witch is being drawn to the paranormal. This means you had or have a desire to learn about or experience ghosts, aliens, cryptids, demons, and other paranormal beings. Maybe as a child, you found ghost stories thrilling. Maybe as an adult, you’re part of a paranormal investigations team or are addicted to the ghost hunter shows on TV. Witches are drawn to the paranormal because we have a foot in this world and a foot in the spirit world. So, naturally, we want to learn more and know more about spirits of all kinds.
You’re Attracted to the Occult
The “occult” means things that are hidden. Topics that are out of the realm of society’s “norms”. As a child or teenager, you might have tried out the Ouija board. Maybe now you want to learn how to read tarot cards or how to heal with crystals. You attend psychic fairs and find yourself enthusiastic about the occult in general. If this is you, you might be a witch.
A BIG Sign You’re a Witch: Supernatural Experiences
Adding onto a witch’s interest in the paranormal, a witch also typically has at least a dozen supernatural experiences in his or her life. These experiences begin as a child and continue into adulthood, especially if the witch believes and is connected to the spirit realm. Supernatural experiences are anything from seeing or hearing ghosts to “time travel” (losing hours of time with no explanation), seeing auras around people or things, encounters with extraterrestrials, and being visited by the deceased or angels.
Witches Are Dreamers
Most witches I’ve known are avid dreamers. Either they have vivid dreams dating back to their childhood or they are lucid dreamers. This means you are conscious of some of your dreams. Often witches are natural lucid dreamers and sometimes even astral projectors. If you’ve had lots of flying dreams since childhood OR if you “dream walk” into other peoples’ dreams, this is one of the signs you’re a witch.
You Question Everything
People that are followers, that go along with what society tells them, aren’t typically witches. I’ve found that the wisest people on this planet are questioners. They question everything.
Old in Soul, Young at Heart
Has anyone ever told you you are an “old soul”? Maybe you’ve always been wise beyond your years. Yet, even in feeling like you’ve been on earth many times, you still feel young at heart. This is a common sign you’re a witch. You make wise decisions and “know” things. But you’ll also go play in a puddle with the kiddos, make mud pies, or skip through a field of flowers. Witches are old in the soul but young at heart.
Past Time Periods Interest You
Witches are drawn to the past because most of us have lived many lives. We remember those lives in our souls and are therefore attracted to things from those lives. Are you a fan of vintage clothing? Old movies? Old houses? You might be a witch.
Part of the reason you’ve been considered “odd” is your attraction to taboo subjects. Witches love learning about the things that are “off-limits” to the rest of society because these things are usually important for us to understand. Maybe you’ve always been curious about death including going to cemeteries, enjoying a good horror movie, or even true crime films. Or perhaps you’re attracted to the “naughty” things in life that others shy away from. Taboo subjects only became taboo when the Church rose to power and sought to control the population keeping them away from their true primal selves.
You believe in natural healing
You believe in natural healing methods like herbs, exercise, nutrition, acupuncture, etc. Now, this doesn’t mean you’re against western medicine (necessarily), but just that you believe in the healing power of Mother Earth. Witches have been healing with natural methods since time immemorial…healing means identifying the cause of an issue and fixing it. Not just treating the symptoms and masking them.
Witches Feel a Longing to “Go Home”
Have you ever felt homesick but don’t know why? There’s a longing in your soul to “go home”, but you’re not quite sure where that is? This is a big sign of being a witch because witches feel pulled to the Otherworld. OR to a place where they lived in a past life.
You have the physical characteristics of a witch
Sometimes our bodies will give us signs of being a witch. These signs include marks on our palms, eyes that people say look “wise”, birthmarks in symbolic shapes, and more! Some of our past life marks follow us into each incarnation. And most witches have lived multiple lives.
Ever had a random image or scene playing in your mind? And at the time it happened, you had no idea what it meant? Or maybe you did. But either way, you have visions of things that have either happened in the past or will happen in the future. This is a sign you’re a witch and have claircognizant and/or clairvoyant abilities. I believe everyone is born with abilities, it’s just that disbelief makes us forget. Witches don’t forget and are often in tune with the earth and energies around them.
To elaborate on being a dreamer, you might have had prophetic dreams. Or have them often. These are dreams that foretell the future. Sometimes they’re not so fun. Sometimes they’re good. Either way, you’re tapping into the spirit world and being shown events to come during your dream time.
You were told as a child “you’re too sensitive”. And as an adult, it seems you can actually feel other peoples’ emotions. Sometimes you feel their pain, physically or emotionally. This goes beyond sympathy and compassion, it goes into the realm of empathy. You may be clairsentient (clear-feeling) and/or an empath. Many witches are empaths and clairsentients.
You hear voices. Sometimes they’re inaudible, sometimes they are clear as a bell. But they are not side effects of a psychological illness, they are manifestations of your clairaudient abilities (clear-hearing). This means you hear spirits, angels, elementals, and you might even hear people’s thoughts. (Side note: if you are hearing voices and they are menacing and you’ve never been evaluated by a psychologist, please do so.)
Along the same lines as clairvoyance, clairsentience, and clairaudience, if you get whiffs of “phantom” scents, you might be a witch. A phantom scent is an aroma that seems to come out of nowhere. And it can’t be explained by logical reasoning.
Spirits Visit Your Dreams
Another aspect of dreaming for witches is being visited by people in our dreams. Sometimes people who are still alive visit us, or we visit them. OR we have visits from ancestors or passed loved ones. Yet more proof witches are connected with the spirit world and astral plane.
Have you ever felt like you were paralyzed in bed? You woke up and might’ve seen spirits, monsters, etc. around you or holding you down? This is called sleep paralysis and is experienced by people who are connected to the spirit realm AND are natural astral travelers. If you’re still wondering, “am I a Witch” and you experience this plus other signs, you probably are, my friend!
I grew up in a family where nearly every family member was a paster or married to one, even my grandfather was a preacher, so I didn’t have a lot of exposure to the occult. However, as a child, whenever there were horoscopes in the paper, I always had to look for mine! Something about astrology really pulled me in. Witches have been gazing at the sky, stars, and constellations since ancient times and still do!
Attracted to “other” religions
While there are witches in every religion, a sign of being a witch is being curious about other religions outside of your own. Particularly esoteric or ancient religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, paganism, etc. If you took World Religions in school, you might have felt a strong interest in religions outside of the Abrahamic umbrella (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism). Witches have a curiosity about older religions because many of the older religions were once more accepting of wise men and women than the newer religions (i.e. the Church and the Witch Trials in the Dark Ages.) In addition, older religions are more prone to acknowledging the sacred feminine and (sometimes) being less dogmatic.
Have you ever been somewhere for the first time but felt you’d been there before? Or maybe you’ve had a conversation with someone and swore you’d had that same conversation before. Deja vu is common among witches and falls under the realm of precognition or potentially past or parallel lives.
Signs You’re a Witch: Strong Intuition
That gut feeling that tells you not to get in the car and then the car crashes that night. That’s your intuition talking. Always listen to it. It WON’T fail you. A sign you’re a witch is having that strong intuition that has saved you or others in multiple situations. This is beyond claircognizance and clairvoyance, this is our connection to our primal instincts.
Seeing the Beauty Where Others Don’t
You look up into the sky on a daily basis. You marvel at the beauty of swaying trees or tiny budding flowers. Yet everyone around you stares blankly at the road in front of them. They seem to be on a hamster wheel of life, while you’re over here smelling the roses. Witches see the beauty in places, things, and in people when everyone else around them doesn’t. It’s because we know the earth is magical. And WE are magical.
Relaxed & Altered States
Many witches have the ability to shift consciousness at will…and sometimes without realizing it. Achieving an alpha state (or relaxed shifted state) is sometimes easier for witches because we have one foot in this world and one foot in the spirit world. We are naturally able to cross that line or “lift the veil”, which comes along with altered states of consciousness. Ever found yourself in a heavy relaxed state while everyone around you was hyper or attentive? You might be a witch if you can enter a deep relaxation or altered state of consciousness easier than others.
Drawn to the Moon
I know many witches who worship the moon. They do their magick by moon phases and really resonate with all things lunar. If you feel connected to the moon, sun, and the stars you might be a witch.
Affected by Toxins
Some witches notice they are more severely affected by toxins than others. I believe this is because as we vibrate at higher frequencies, connect to the divine and to the earth, the negative things that are of lower vibrations no longer “jive” with our bodies. This means eating processed foods filled with chemicals, smoking cigarettes or vape pens, drinking alcohol, recreational drugs, etc. might all feel WAY worse to you than they used to. Or worse to you than other people around you. This means it’s time to give it up and vibe higher!
“Am I A Witch?” Well, Are You a BIG History BUFF?
If you enjoy reading history books about the Witch Trials, pagan cultures of the past, Greek mythology, etc., etc. this is a sign you’re a witch. In addition, if you’ve got your degree in history, archaeology, or anthropology, you might be a witch.
Witchy and Fantasy Movies
Are you a fan of witch and fantasy movies? Do some of your favorites include Hocus Pocus, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, The Lord of the Rings, The Craft, and Practical Magic. If you found yourself wanting to be Winifred Sanderson or Sally Owens, you’re one of many witches.
Dragons, Mermaids, and Fairies Oh My!
Continuing our fantasy and mythical themes, if you’re a witch you might have always been interested in mythical creatures. Dragons, mermaids, unicorns, and fairies are just a few. Maybe you had dragon figurines in your room or you loved playing a fairy board game as a child. Maybe as an adult, you’re obsessed with mermaids. This is a common witch trait! Witches work in the magic realms…and often these “mythical” creatures are very real in other spiritual realms.
Witches Are Day Dreamers
Did anyone ever tell you your head was in the clouds? Or that you daydream too much? Again another sign of being a witch because you have the ability to enter other states of consciousness. Having a vivid imagination is a great trait to have – it means you can visualize things easier and then they manifest easier! The mind is a powerful thing.
You Think, Then Manifest
Remember that time you really needed money to pay your bills but you didn’t know where it was going to come from? Then you remembered your old friend owed you a couple of hundred bucks but hadn’t paid you back? A week later, you find a check from your old friend in the mail. Whoa! How did you do that? Witches think and manifest.
Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's insight.
Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows, watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn, soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas, night power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule, light the log the Horned One rules.
In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height, time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.
Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

Ten Of Cups Reversed
When the reversed Ten of Cups card appears in a Tarot reading, you are seeking greater harmony and connection in your relationships. In your mind, you had wished for a beautiful, harmonious relationship, but in reality, you feel disconnected and disengaged from your loved one. It may seem as if something is missing, and you’re struggling to communicate honestly, empathize, and engage with one another. Each time you try to connect, something goes wrong, and you end up with even more distance between you. You may have unrealistic expectations of the relationship: that everything will be perfect and rosy every minute you are together. If this resonates, then realign your expectations and realize that every relationship has its ups and downs. Or, you may no longer be a fit for each other, in which case you may consider leaving.
The Ten of Cups invites you to seek out common ground with your loved ones and rebuild the relationship from there. See the other person as a Divine Being worthy of your love; and equally, see yourself as a Divine Being worthy of theirs. Love and be loved. Open the lines of communication and be ready to hold space for one another so you can reconnect on a deeper, more loving level. Be compassionate, understanding, and respectful, and seek harmony with one another.
The reversed Ten of Cups can also appear when you are contemplating what a loving relationship means for you. Rather than building relationships with others, you are focusing your attention inward so you can gain clarity around what you want from a relationship. Ask yourself what an ideal relationship looks like to you and how you want to give and receive love. Consider how you can bring more of this energy into your future relationships. You may look at your existing relationships and check-in to see how these relationships align with your desires. Let go of any that no longer bring you fulfillment and happiness, and welcome new relationships in alignment with your Highest Good.
The Ten of Cups reversed can reveal a misalignment of personal values. You are not living by your own values, nor are you being true to yourself. Instead, you are allowing others to decide what will and will not make you happy when you know you should determine that for yourself. As a result, you are questioning whether you believe in what you are doing. Bring your focus back to what truly makes you happy even if it differs from what others expect.
Finally, the reversed Ten of Cups may suggest that you are neglecting your family while you pursue more material goals such as progressing your career or making more money. Your work-life balance is out of whack, and you are spending less and less quality time with your family. If you continue to neglect your family, you’ll find that relationships will suffer and you may not achieve an overall sense of contentment and happiness as planned.
